Book Review: “I Think I Love You” by Allison Pearson

The story is divided into two parts; the first set in 1974, where we meet the fictional characters of Petra, her mother & father and her friends, including best pal Sharon, who live in Wales. Though they aren’t real people, they are strongly inspired by the author’s own childhood love of Cassidy.  We also meet Bill, who is rather begrudgingly employed by The Essential David Cassidy Magazine in London. He is tasked with impersonating the teen idol in print, even ghost writing letters from the star to his breathless young fans.  Bill fancies himself a true music journalist, and is so embarrassed by this gig that he hides it from his own girlfriend.
