Chuck–-Let’s get this out of the way, Chuck isn’t really a nerd. Sure, he’s smart and tech-savvy and he needed a haircut back in college, but he’s way too cute to really be a nerd. He’s not even all that socially awkward anymore. That being said, this show is succeeding brilliantly at being the comic version of Alias, which took itself way too seriously for most of its run. There has been nice character development among both lead and supporting players, the writing and plausibility of crazy spy capers are clicking, plus there’s the ongoing arc of this rogue agency, Fulcrum, forever searching for The Intersect (which is inside Chuck’s head), to keep things humming along. It’s all a nice, light diversion from serious dramas and real life itself. How can you not love a show that has a character named Captain Awesome?
