Waterfront Film Festival, Mixed Beans

The Waterfront Film Festival – A Preview

If you live anywhere near West Michigan, you’ve probably heard about the Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck.  The thirteenth annual festival kicks off with an Opening Night Celebration on Thursday, and then a full weekend of movies.  The Waterfront has, in past years, hosted the Midwest premieres of movies like Napoleon Dynamite, March of the Penguins, Grizzly Man, American Splendor, and Man on Wire.  There’ve also been a host of smaller films, quirky labors of love and fascinating documentaries.  It’s considered one of the best Film Festivals in the country, and we Michiganders are lucky to have it.

I’m a bit of an old hand – this will be my eighth time at the festival (the seventh consecutive).  It’s honestly one of the things I look forward to most every year, so I thought I’d offer some tips to Festival newcomers to maximize their fun and minimize stress.
