LOST Revisited: 6-11 “Happily Ever After”

“Something has clearly affected the way you see things. This is a serious problem. It is, in fact, a violation. So whatever you’re doing, whatever it is you think you’re looking for, you need to stop looking for it.” – Eloise Widmore
Whenever Desmond is the focus of the episode, you known it’s going to be a game-changer. (Well, not the time that it was a flashback about when he made wine at a monastery, but that was the exception.) This episode took place almost entirely in Timeline X and, frankly, kind of blew my mind. This is a big one, and I’m going to do my best to get it all done.
We begin on the Island – Desmond’s coming out of a medical stupor, and Island Tina Fey is trying to bring him up to speed. Widmore sure assigns her a lot of jobs. As we’ll soon see, that’s probably because the other people he brought over are morons. The last thing Desmond remembers is being shot by Benry. As you’ll recall, he managed to beat Benry stupid after that. Good old Widmore arrives to try and talk Desmond down while explaining that he’s back on the Island, and in an awesome moment, Desmond thrashes him with an IV stand. After Desmond is subdued, Widmore says “The Island isn’t finished with you yet”, which is what Eloise told Desmond last season. It’s also what Tom the Other told Michael back in Season Four.
