LOST Revisited 6-9 “Ab Aeterno”

When Richard finally awakens, the ship has run (far) aground. Some of the other slaves survived, and we can hear the conversation on the upper deck – Captain Hanso didn’t survive. The slaves call for help, and an injured Whitfield comes down and kills them one by one. When only Richard is left, we hear the old dot matrix sound of Smokey. First come the screams from above, and then he enters the hold and kills Whitfield. When the smoke reaches Richard, it stops. It reads him, like it would later do with Eko, Locke, and Benry. And then it leaves.
