LOST Revisited 6-9 “Ab Aeterno”

Actually, Jacob calls the Island itself the cork that keeps the darkness where it belongs. Since the Island doesn’t seem to exist in Timeline X (though we don’t know when or how it stopped existing), does it mean that Smokey can run free there? That is worrisome to say the least.
