LOST Revisited: Pre-Game for “The Variable”

Episode 13: “So it Begins”

This scene begins in first person view, as the camera walks through the jungle. Given the height and the audible panting, we’re clearly following Vincent. He spots a damaged suitcase and follows a trail of clothes. He follows a whistle, and we see that it’s Christian Shephard, in his funeral suit and white tennis shoes. Christian calls Vincent over and tells him he’s a good boy. He tells Vincent to go “find my son” and “wake him up”. As Vincent runs to Jack, Christian says “He has work to do”. This leads to the very first scene of the series, Jack waking up on the ground after the crash.
