LOST Revisited: Pre-Game for “The Variable”
Cool, right? First off, Christian was walking around on the Island from the very beginning of the series. He’s also wearing the white tennis shoes which were finally explained this season. (Jack couldn’t find Christian’s dress shoes.) Also, Christian gives Vincent some fairly complicated instructions, which Vincent follows exactly. Whether that’s because of Christian’s abilities or Vincent’s is sort of up in the air. By the way, the phrase “work to do” shows up frequently in this series. Ghost Walt, Benry, and Widmore have all told Locke that he had work to do. Ghost Ana Lucia told Hurley that he had work to do, and Tom said it to Michael after he left the Island. It sort of follows the idea that the Island has very specific plans for certain people. (Note who uses this phrase – people who are either very connected to the Island, or Ghosts/hallucinations/mystical beings.) Also, note that Christian refers to Jack as “my son”. When he does that, it makes me wonder if he’s not actually Jacob, and he actually is Christian returned from the dead.
