LOST Revisited: Pre-Game for “The Lighthouse”

Let me try this out – the mysterious boy and Christian Shephard are manifestations of the Island. I’ve long assumed that Christian was Smokey, but remember that he appeared to Michael on the freighter. It would seem that it’s not a simple thing for Smokey to leave the Island at all, since that’s what we’re building up to. It doesn’t seem like he could appear on the freighter, and it sure doesn’t seem like he’d be able to keep Michael alive once he left. I don’t know that Jacob could have done that either – while he can leave the Island, we’ve only seen him influence events with direct involvement. And we’ve certainly never seen Jacob change his form. So who did that?
