LOST Revisited, Season 5, Episode 4: “The Little Prince” (Feb 5)

On the Island, the Lostaways see a beam of light, and Locke knows it’s the light from the Hatch. He steers everybody in the other direction for two reasons. One, that was Locke’s absolute lowest point on the Island. Wracked with guilt over Boone’s death, injured, and forsaken, that’s not something Locke can bring himself to watch. Also, the fact is that since he didn’t meet his future self when that originally happened, he can’t go and meet his past self now. Locke gets the rules.
