Have you noticed that this season is playing out like a mirror image of last season? Building up to the season finale last year, there was a much bigger emphasis on reaction to actual historical events, while the actual finale turned out to be entirely character driven. Hard as it is to believe, we’re in the home stretch for this season, and the last several episodes have been propelled by the Mad Men characters. Aside from some lip service to civil rights and Vietnam, we’re being pulled along by the fictional characters and events. I have to wonder if this will switch for the season finale, when suddenly the real world derails SCDP.
