Have we mentioned how brilliant this show is? To have Pete and Trudy considering adoption (which his bigoted witch of a mother calls “pulling from the discards”) in light of the fact that just over in Brooklyn is Pete’s biological child that he doesn’t know about, is genius. And then to have a drunken Pete complain to Peggy about hating his mother and flying for the first time since his father’s death, clearly looking for some comfort from her, is priceless. Peggy’s long since checked out on her former admiration of this guy. What a couple of lost souls. And was it just me, or was anyone almost cheering for Pete to tell his mother that she was essentially broke? That cold, hateful woman sort of deserves it.
