And, though Joan is no longer filing papers (“I have other people to do that for me now”), she still has to ask Lane’s permission for days off, which he refuses to grant her. Of course, we know it’s all about marital stress and strife, but he treats Joan like total crap and deserves her full wrath. It was nice to see Joan issue a beat down to the secretary, Sandy, who mixed up Lane’s flower deliveries, sending Joan’s simple “I’m Sorry” card to London and the much more personal message intended for Lane’s wife to Joan. I’m just glad the English are typically repressed people who would never say randy things on cards.
