Mad Men Roundtable – “The Good News”

But even on the West Coast, back in Dick Whitman mode, there’s still rejection.  Stephanie shoots him down.  And it’s played as sort of a foregone conclusion, too.  It’s ridiculous that he would even try, seems to be her stance.  A year ago, that wouldn’t have happened.  But now we have his date with Jane’s friend, the briefly smitten Nurse Phoebe, and now Stephanie.  And then the only real pitch we’ve seen, the one for Jantzen, was also rejected.  And his one “success”, with Allison, is going to end up doing more damage than he’s expecting.  It is not a good year to be Don Draper.  Or Dick Whitman, for that matter.
