Mad Men Roundtable – “The Good News”

I’m not sure why Don took Lane out on the town like that.  It’s not like Don to try to bond.  Does he miss those nights out with Roger Sterling?  Did he think he could help?  Or did Don want somebody else to be miserable too?  Remember, Don’s the guy who engineered the great Roger Sterling Projectile Vomit Incident.  He’s got that sadistic streak.  If he can drag somebody down with him, I think he’d grab that opportunity.  But it’s worth noting that Don’s never been shown to have a friend with whom he enjoys social activities other than Roger.  Don got something out of this aside from the possible pleasure of watching the train wreck.
