EJ’s Top 20 of 2010 – Part One

15.  Archer – I was nervous about the animated Archer initially.  After all, Frisky Dingo came to a premature end so that co-creator Adam Reed could work on this new series.  And while I’ll always long for a third season of that show, Archer certainly eased the pain.  With a great voice cast (including H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, and Jessica Walter), and Reed’s propensity for increasingly absurd running jokes, Archer found its footing early on and stayed hilarious and mildly offensive all season.  And thought it’s ostensibly a series about spies and espionage, it’s really a workplace comedy where bitching about the company newsletter and office gossip are more important than where the secret plans are and who’s planning to blow up a blimp.  It’s a show where Archer and ex-girlfriend Lana have to defuse a bomb, but the support staff is busy playing “Marry, Bang, Kill” with the company directory.  The new season starts in January, and I can’t wait to see what international laws and rules of basic human decency Archer manages to break next
