Dancing with the Stars – Season 11, Performance Week 3
Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel (18/30) – Their story is about “expressing pride”, which is not really a story. We also see footage of Margaret doing a stand-up tour, and if her impression of a Korean accent doesn’t drive away her voters, I don’t know what will. (I know, she’s been doing that bit forever, but it’s still kind of upsetting.) Margaret is wearing a giant yellow headdress and a rainbow-striped dress. Their song is “Copacabana”, and apparently the headdress to covey Lola the Showgirl is as much story as they’re going to get. I mean, the song sometimes tells you what they’re doing, and they don’t actually do that in the dance. Her footwork is just bad – there is, as an old man in front of the general store might say, a hitch in her git-along. Louis is doing his best, but her legs do not move the way they need to. Len thought she started bad and it just got worse as the song went on. He didn’t get the story either, because it wasn’t there. Bruno compliments her gay pride but says that her dance was bad. Hee. Carrie Ann is also excited about her gay pride, but has nothing to say about the dance. They talk about how Dancing with the Stars has gone gay, and Bruno says something I don’t catch, but his expression is hilarious. Tom says that Louis is wearing Jack LaLanne’s outfit, which, yeah. He called that one. They score an 18, which I think is still their best score yet.
