Pirate Captain – He’s kind of an anomaly in the Venture Universe, in that he’s been around since Season One and doesn’t actually have a name. Usually any character with a line gets a name, if only in the credits. The Captain first appeared in Season One’s classic “Ghosts of the Sargasso”, where he headed up a crew of pirates who pretended to be ghosts. Eventually, he became friends with Jonas Venture Jr., and moved in with him when JJ took over Spider-Skull Island. His relationship with JJ is kind of complicated – they often seem to legitimately like one another, but JJ got that a-hole gene from his father, and sometimes he treats the Captain like hired help. Last time we saw him in Season Three, the Captain was hooked on OSI tranquilizer darts. (“It’s like getting sucked off by an angel.”) This has no bearing on his appearance here, but I really wanted to use that quote.
