Pete shows up at SPHINX with a $50,000 check, and offers it to them if they help find Billy. Hunter Gathers tries to toss him out, but Pete says they owe it to Billy, after the way they used him. It’s only when Hunter sees that the check is from General Consolidated Insurance that he suddenly gets interested. Brock explains that Pete is the only person who’s taken money from the investors and survived.
–I love the bit where everybody at SPHINX announces something dark about themselves because “Men don’t have secrets”. Also, Hunter claims that it was OSI who used Billy, and not SPHINX. That’s technically true, but Hunter was the agent leading the operation for OSI. So, you know, it was still him. Also, throughout this episode, Shore Leave calls out “SPHINX” whenever somebody else uses the name. In the first half of the season, there was a musical sting when everybody said “SPHINX”. It’s gone now, so Shore Leave is filling in. Hee.
